Some of the things we talked about:

  • Creating content that shares your story and resonates with other people.
  • Connecting with people where they are right now through your content and your language and topics, and then offering them hope of a transformation on the other side of working with you.
  • Sharing ‘how to’ graphics and content gets you lost in the noise of the internet, and can often be overwhelming for your ideal client. You need to bring your personality and connection to what you share.
  • How do we learn to be authentic? Journaling and the role it plays in discovering your own voice. Ruth has this great podcast episode about journalling for business owners. I signed up to 750 Words to help me journal.
  • What to do if you’re really struggling to come up with content ideas:
    • Tapping into and sharing your own story
    • Going back to your ideal clients and what they’re struggling with
    • Get on the phone and hear what people say their issues are
    • Go into Facebook groups and see what people are asking about that you can help with
  • What content doesn’t resonate. The fact that being authentic and finding your voice does take time and practice.
  • What would your ideal clients be typing into Google? Use that language and meet people where they are, rather than trying to sell them a solution they don’t know they need yet. Sell them what they want, give them what they need.
  • Showing up and giving it a go, whether your content connects or not. If our content isn’t received ‘well’, it’s not a reflection of how good we are at our jobs.
  • The importance of repeating things that are important – because not everyone hears it the first time.

I mentioned my How To Sell Events playbook to help you find different ways to create content around an online or offline event you are organising.
